WAKING IS ITS OWN NIGHTMARE
Florinia has fallen to the Bastion, and the next dance is about to begin in the Land of Moenda. The Faceless God - Part One: Spirits & Ash is the first of two parts that make up the complete book.
Kira isn't doing well: In less than one day, he learned the truth about his parentage and the fact that Eutau isn't who he claimed to be; he lost control and wandered into a battle, summoning scores of unkillable Risen that attacked enemy and ally alike; and now he sits shackled in a cell as a prisoner of the Bastion.
Commander Kim Lafont isn't doing well: His assault against the Ascendancy succeeded, and Florinia is now under Bastion occupation despite Kira's unexpected appearance. But the escape of the Ten, the Ascendancy's mysterious leaders, and the arrival of a stranger threaten his hold over the conquered but unsubdued city.
The Sanctifiers aren't doing well: The Ascendancy's survivors have fled, leaving them deep behind enemy lines. Wounded in battle, Marya and Kristoff must find a way to escape Florinia or risk death at the hands of the Bastion, all while having to face whether the Ascendancy truly deserves their loyalty.
Meanwhile . . . Amonos is being Amonos.
All must fight to survive.
